EloraTZP AMPLIFY Trials

What could combining Elora and tirzepatide add?

EloraTZP AMPLIFY trials will test whether combining Elora with tirzepatide helps people lose more weight. They will also study the side effects.

The idea is promising. But a treatment needs to offer more than an impressive number on the scale. Can people keep taking it? Does the extra weight loss come with more nausea or other problems? The answers will help show how useful this combination could be.

As of October 29, 2026, neither AMPLIFY study has published results. Weight-loss figures you may have seen come from earlier research.

What Are the EloraTZP AMPLIFY Trials?

EloraTZP combines eloralintide, often called Elora, with tirzepatide in one experimental medicine. Its research code is LY900043.

Lilly's AMPLIFY-1 and AMPLIFY-2 are phase 3 trials. These larger studies aim to gather more evidence about how well the treatment works and its risks.

The medicine was developed specifically for these trials. Buying separate products labeled Elora and tirzepatide does not give you the same study formulation.

Both trials plan to compare weight changes after 100 weeks. That is nearly two years. That allows more time to study treatment than the earlier 48-week combination trial. AMPLIFY-1 record, AMPLIFY-2 record

Could Elora With Tirzepatide Work Better?

Earlier results give Lilly a reason to test that question in larger studies.

In September 2026, Lilly reported greater average weight loss with combinations of eloralintide and tirzepatide than with tirzepatide alone. The study lasted 48 weeks and included adults with type 2 diabetes. Digestive side effects were more frequent with the combinations. Some people stopped treatment because of them.

That study used separate injections. AMPLIFY will test the two medicines together in one formulation. The earlier findings are encouraging, but they cannot tell us how the new trials will turn out. Lilly's earlier combination findings

The practical question is whether the added benefit outweighs the difficulties of treatment. Losing more weight matters. Being able to keep taking the medicine matters too.

Why Are There Two AMPLIFY Studies?

The trials include different groups. One focuses on adults without diabetes; the other includes adults with type 2 diabetes.

StudyWho it includesWhat it compares
AMPLIFY-1Adults with obesity and no diabetesEloraTZP, each ingredient separately, and placebo
AMPLIFY-2Adults with overweight or obesity and type 2 diabetesEloraTZP and tirzepatide

A placebo contains no active study medicine. AMPLIFY-2 has no placebo group.

The separate ingredient groups in AMPLIFY-1 should help show what combining the medicines adds. AMPLIFY-2 focuses on how the combination compares with tirzepatide in people with type 2 diabetes. Lilly's AMPLIFY-1 overview, AMPLIFY-2 overview

Treatment groups are assigned by chance. People taking part do not choose which treatment they receive. This helps make the comparison fairer. Joining does not guarantee receiving the combination.

What Matters Besides Weight Loss?

The studies will measure more than pounds lost. Planned checks include waist size, body fat, blood sugar and blood pressure. They will also ask about quality of life and the ability to do everyday activities.

These are things the trials intend to measure, not benefits already shown. AMPLIFY-1 measurements, AMPLIFY-2 measurements

When results arrive, side effects and the number of people who stopped treatment will deserve attention alongside the weight-loss headlines.

It will also matter whether the reported average includes people who stopped taking the medicine. That can give a different picture from an estimate that assumes everyone stayed on treatment.

And measuring body fat alone cannot show that the combination preserves muscle. We would need evidence that answers that question directly.

Can You Join if You Already Take Tirzepatide?

Current tirzepatide use would generally conflict with AMPLIFY's entry rules. Both records restrict certain medicines taken during the 90 days before screening.

Do not stop a prescribed medicine to try to qualify. The study team can review your treatment history and explain whether the trial is suitable for you. AMPLIFY-1 eligibility, AMPLIFY-2 eligibility

A different study, ENLIGHTEN-6, is testing added eloralintide in people who still have overweight or obesity while on stable treatment such as tirzepatide. It has its own entry rules and is not another name for AMPLIFY. ENLIGHTEN-6 record

When Could We See AMPLIFY Results?

The main weight checks are expected to end in October 2029. That is a planned date, not a promise about when results will be announced or the medicine approved.

Enrollment information also needs checking. On October 29, 2026, ClinicalTrials.gov listed both trials as not yet recruiting. Lilly's site listed AMPLIFY-1 as not yet enrolling but AMPLIFY-2 as enrolling. The sources differ. Contact the study team to ask about openings. AMPLIFY-1 details, AMPLIFY-2 details

If you want to take part, ask about eligibility, visits and which treatment groups you could enter. When results arrive, look beyond the weight-loss headline to side effects and how many people stayed on treatment in the EloraTZP AMPLIFY trials.
